"Rediscover your faith, with us!"

Corona Virus Update June 10 and Zoom Worship Info

If you would like to worship with us via Zoom meetings live, please send an email to Pastor Julie at scalgal61@gmail.com and she will send you an invitation.   We are LIVE each Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

YOU CAN FIND THE VIDEO RECORDING OF WORSHIP ON THE MEDIA LINK ON THE LEFT NAVAGATION BAR.

Update on June 10, 2020:  Your Session has decided to continue following the health and government guidelines and suspend worship and building activies in the forseeable future. A Task Force is meeting this summer to look at safety issues in returning to in-person worship.

We continue Zoom worship each week at 9:30 a.m.   Please keep in mind that the Church Universal is still one in Christ even if we aren’t in the same room.

The Session is making plans for a thorough cleaning of the building and looking at other ways to keep worshipers safe once we are allowed to meet again.   Please watch for more updates here or request to be on our church email list. Send that request to Pastor Julie Hodges via the above address.

MARCH 14 UPDATE FROM PASTOR JULIE:

Dear St. Andrew family and friends,
The Session met this morning to make a formal decision to suspend worship and all meetings on campus, at least until April 3rd.  We are following after the guidelines from Riverside County Public Health Department as they have closed schools and are recommending that no large groups gather together. We do not take this lightly, but with deep wisdom for the well-being of all people.  We do not know how rapidly this virus may or may not spread, but we want to do our part to help its containment. This will include any official mission outreaches in the community we support, some of which may be/have been cancelled already.

Perhaps this will be a note of sadness, or perhaps a sigh of relief, since we are an older congregation. We believe it is in the best interest and as you have been following the news, many of our desert churches are doing the same thing.

Friends, our church staff will continue to work, and I will be looking at online ways to meet and have worship in new and creative ways.  My local Presbyterian colleagues and I may try out a joint online worship experience; our elders and deacons may use online meetings to continue working together. Just because we are not in worship together does not mean the church stops being the church, the body of Christ!   My plans are to write a sermon each week from my sermon series and send the manuscript for your teaching. We will also have a bulletin attached so that you can say the prayers and have times of thoughtful reflection.   We will continue to call on each other and have times of prayer- it may just look different for a while.

If you would like to be on our church email list, please send our office manager an email at standrewindio@gmail.com and she will include you in any updates.

The early church affirmed the saying "Jesus is Lord" which we continue to affirm today.  Nothing will change that, nor our faith in the risen Christ-- even in times of crisis.  In fact, it was the early church that shined with the love of Jesus for the least, the poor the downtrodden, the hopeless.  This is our generation's time to practice our faith in ways that may be stretching, but will speak loudly to a fearful world. "He is Risen-- He is Risen Indeed!"  Keep that in mind. I am praying for all of you.
In His Deep Love,

Pastor Julie Hodges,

Saturday March 14, 12 noon

An Update from Rev. Julie Hodges, Pastor

As we all come to grips with the Corona Virus this week, our prayers are with everyone affected by this in our nation and world.

The Session will meet on Saturday March 14 to make decisions about the future of immediate worship services. Please come back here for updates as to our future schedules and potential closings.

If you would like to be on our regular church email list, please send a note to standrewindio@gmail.com  as I am sending weekly updates.   Our church phone number is 760-347-5344 if you need to speak to staff.  I will be monitoring the answering machine daily.

I am reminded by one of our PCUSA creeds, "In Iife and death, we belong to the Lord."   We face each challenge with deep and abiding faith in the risen Jesus Christ.  My prayers are with our church, our community, and our nation as we face this challeinging time.

Rev. Julie Hodges,  Pastor,
